A PICNIC Paragraph Writing

Life often appears dull and monotonous. Our annual examination was over.

The members of our club decided that we should have a picnic in a garden at

Chandannagar on the first of January. It was a bright and glorious day. We reached the spot at 8 a.m The garden was on the bank of the Ganges. We read Keats’s poem One Who is Long in City Pent for our examination. We understood its meaning as we were far away from the din and bustle of the city.

The first thing we did was to choose a shady place under a huge banana tree. We spread carpets and had our breakfast. We did not know how to cook. But to eat ill-cooked food at a picnic is also great fun. A few enterprising friends collected dried leaves and branches of trees from the adjoining woods and made a fire.

Some of us dressed meat and vegetables. A few of us sang and played on the harmonium. One friend began to make a sketch of the lovely landscape.

At 12 noon we had our bath in the river. I did not know how to swim. I, therefore, had a wash, on the bank of the river.

At 1 P.M. we had our lunch. The courses were rice, meat, vegetable curry, and fried brinjals.

The curry was over-salted and the meat under-salted. Yet we did not mind it. It was a new and exciting experience. We left when the sun was about to set.
