Dear Bhabesh,
You have asked me to describe the Cricket Match that took place at Midnapore on Sunday last.
The match was played between the University team and the Bataspur team, both of which are well-known in the district. The University team won the toss. The opening batsman played magnificently and scored a century. The other batsmen were not so fortunate and the total score of the team was two hundred and eighty-five runs. In reply to that the Bataspur team was all out for two hundred and fifty runs and was defeated. It was a limited over match. Both the teams were asked to play forty overs each.
The fielding of both teams was simply grand. But the wickets of Bataspur fell rapidly, and the players could not show their real form. Their bowlers, however, deserve praise. But the opening batsman of University taxed the patience of the bowlers and won everybody’s praise. It was an exciting match indeed!
