A Paragraph on Blood Donation Camp

On February 20, 2023, right on the eve of our school Foundation Day, a blood donation camp was organized in our school. Dr. Asim Mandol, BMOH of our Rural Hospital, inaugurated the center. Many eminent like Dr. Sajal Singh, a famous cancer specialist, and Srimati Joyita Sarkar, a famous social worker, attended the camp.

All of them urged the students, teachers, and other people present to donate blood to save people’s lives. They also tried to remove misconceptions some people had about blood donation. The Blood Bank authorities were kind enough to arrange for the collection of blood. This camp was a grand success as not only the teachers and the students, but many local people also donated their blood.

More than thirty bottles of blood were collected. Everybody praised this effort of the students and the teachers at the school.

An Essay on Blood Donation

Science has discovered many things but has not been able to prepare artificial blood. Other people’s blood is needed to save a dying traveler or patient. So donating blood is a great act.

The amount of blood in the body of a healthy strong person remains largely unchanged even after meeting its needs. On the other hand, many sick patients die from lack of blood.

Although many artificial organs can be made using science and technology, it is still not possible to make artificial blood. So blood from a healthy person can meet the need of blood to help save a comatose patient, a war-wounded soldier, an accident victim, a person suffering from anemia and leukemia, a child with thalassemia and to help in surgery for a complex disease.

People voluntarily come and stand beside these sick people and donate blood. Many voluntary organizations, clubs, schools, and colleges organize voluntary blood donation camps to collect blood.

Blood collected in various public and private blood banks is stored to deal with critical situations. There are some rules for donating blood. Blood donation should be done according to doctor’s advice.

Needless to say, blood should not be donated to a sick body. A blood test must be done before donating blood. Transmitted blood should not be given at all, especially to those with HIV in their blood. The age of the blood donor should be between 18 to 60 years minimum.

But still, not all people can be motivated to donate blood. Our inability, we could not convince them that donating blood does not cause any harm to the blood donor’s body, rather donating blood at certain times makes the body fresher.

As a result of blood donation, the temporary shortage of blood in the body is soon filled. The blood donor should also be made aware that he has fulfilled his humanitarian and social responsibility by donating blood to help save a life-threatening person.

We should remove fear and prejudice from people’s minds and encourage people to donate blood. Both public and private efforts should be utilized in this regard. We need to understand that saving a human being requires the help of another well-wisher.

Above all, the blood donor should keep one thing in mind – a precious life will be saved by his blood donation.
